Boy's Own Stuff!

As regular visitors to this blog will know, I have been living in France and  - for the last four years - on the Greek island of Corfu

Most of that time I have been without a TV which means, now that I am back in the UK,  that I have a great deal of catching up to do!

So, let's start with this BBC program:

In this series, James May(of 'Top Gear' fame) revisits his childhood toys and find exciting ways to celebrate happy hours with Airfix model aircraft, Scalextric trains, Meccano. Plasticine and the rest

In December 2009 he decided to build a life-size house - with real Lego bricks!

It took over 3 million bricks!

Not content with a strikingly colourful, fully functional two-storey structure, May built furniture to go inside

Mind you, not everything worked. The toilet, for example, proved less than satisfactory!

Still, it just goes to show that if you think big enough, even school-boy dreams to build a Lego house big enough to live in CAN come true!

The DVD of the entire series is available from the BBC
