After the Flood

This new painting, recently finished, is called After the Flood. It is one of the largest paintings I have ever done, measuring 110 x 90 cms.

The painting is gouache on canvas, then 'fixed' with varnish. It is unusual to use gouache (essentially poster paint) on canvas but I find it a very flexible medium

The plant forms are created using only a palette knife. The cracked mud took ages to paint!

I am quite pleased with the somewhat impressionistic, watery landscape on the horizon. This type of painting is a new departure for me. It is quite subtle work and a style that I would like to develop in the future so please watch this space!

This picture is for sale at £2,250
